The Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival is a collection of celebrations, encompassing concerts, cultural shows and street parades that bring together all aspects of the Bahamian culture and heritage into an impressive event. The carnival starts on Easter Monday with major events taking place across Grand Bahama 14th-16th April, and Nassau 18th-20th May.
During the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival period cultural events are held, including festivals and private parties which showcases Junkanoo, Rake-n-Scrape, performing artists, arts and crafts, extravagant costumes, Bahamian cuisine, and music and dance. There is a Junior Parade, a cultural show, competitions and non-stop entertainment, featuring legendary Bahamian artists, local and regional acts and international performers.
Road Fever is the original Bahamian masquerade street party that brings the celebrations to a close. It is a massive event that incorporates costumes with live and recorded music for free spirited individuals and is open to anyone willing to purchase a costume and “jump in di line” and “shake up the streets” with wild dancing to the rhythms and positive vibes of the music.
